AMMENDMENTS TO ORIGINAL PROPOSAL

AMENDMENTS

The project proposal was submitted on Sunday 15 September 2019.  The plan as per the proposal was substantially adhered to with few exceptions.  Problems that arose whilst following the initial plan were overcome using the following strategies:

  1. It was intended that all assessment and treatment techniques would be demonstrated using a baby doll, however, due to the stiffness and rigidity of a baby doll it was difficult to accurately demonstrate the techniques.  Therefore, comprehensive instructions, diagrams, supplementary educational videos and links to websites were utilised to further demonstrate the techniques described.

  2. I also intended to seek guidance and/or work collaboratively with a Computer Science and Information Technology student to create this website.  Upon contacting the La Trobe University Head of Department - Computer Science and Information Technology, it became evident that the timeframes for completion of my website would prevent any collaboration occurring.  As per the recommendations of Computer Science and Information Technology lecturers, I utilised online tutorials and Wix working instructions to assist in the creation of the website.

  3. Despite having a very thorough and detailed project timeline, I did not fully anticipate the time required to concurrently seek and apply for graduate physiotherapy positions that were advertised during that period.  Therefore, I had to utilise my time-management skills and re-prioritise the timeframes required of each element of the project to ensure my website was completed within the expected time frame.

  4. Key stakeholders to the production of the website were fourth year physiotherapy students.  As the majority were juggling competing and conflicting priorities (ie. completing their PEEK project whilst balancing various other external pressures), it was often difficult to gain constructive feedback.  To broaden the scope of informal feedback received, third year physiotherapy students who had completed the Early Lifespan and Gender theory subject and recently graduated physiotherapists were also approached for informal feedback.

  5. Whilst I intended to liaise with paediatric physiotherapist, Christina Lambros, due to the practitioner’s time constraints and commitments this was not feasible.  Instead, informal feedback was sought from paediatric physiotherapist and clinical placement supervisor, Santhiya Santhiapillai.

Whilst not specifically a problem as per the original plan, I have identified areas for improvement of the resource which will allow it to be more “user friendly”.  These include adding a search bar and a “printer friendly version” of the resource.  These features were unable to be addressed as the inclusion of a search bar involves ongoing charges that fall outside the budget for this project and is therefore not feasible.  Furthermore, Wix does not currently support “printer friendly versions” of webpages due to loss and/or altering of formatting.
